Welcome!

Hey guys, welcome to my first blog!

Burrows, Paula. (2014). Lyon (Photograph).
I am a Brock University graduate from the French Studies program and a future French Teacher. I am also an over thinker and perfectionist extraordinaire and a self proclaimed coffee addict.

Over the course of my teacher education I will be using this blog to reflect on courses, placements, and the overall stress and excitement of being a Teacher Candidate. I hope to gain insight into my own thoughts and opinions as well as what it takes to be a successful and influential teacher.

This blog will be used for my Teaching Digital Learners in the Digital Age course which I am so happy to be taking. I don't know much anything about technology - I can barely even use all of the features on my phone! - but I am so excited to learn more about technology in the classroom because I know I would have loved to have more tech while I was in school.

I will also be using this blog in my Mathematics JI course which I am nervous about. I used to really enjoy math in school, but now that I've been away from it for so many years, it scares me so much! I am hoping that this course will bring back some of the confidence I used to have in math.

Now to introduce myself! I have always known that I wanted to be a teacher; I usually insisted on being the teacher when playing school with my friends in the backyard (you could say I was a bossy kid, it's cool). At 15 I started teaching dance at my local studio and my passion took off from there. I loved planning my classes, leading group activities, and being able to teach kids something new!

I have also always loved the french language. While I was in junior kindergarten, I came home from school one day so upset that my two best friends were switching to French Immersion for SK and I wanted to go too. I didn't realize that at 5 years old, I was making the decision to learn a language that would shape my university career and my future job. (high five to little me!)

I'm hoping that my passion and enthusiasm will help me to become an influential teacher and that I can create an environment where students love school as much as I did!

I'm nervous, overwhelmed, and excited and I can't wait to get started!
