Last Genius Hour Update

My genius hour project was to discover what practices and exercises would allow me to teach myself to do an elbow stand by the end of our short course. 

Throughout the project, I was so stressed out and so concerned with the final goal that I forgot the entire reason I chose this genius hour topic: I love yoga and I wanted to get better at it and practice it more.  

All I could think about every time I would roll out my mat in my living room was that I HAD to get this elbow stand and I HAD to be able to hold it for 30 seconds before the end of class. I was unable to really get into my yoga practice and really embrace the entire concept of yoga. 

Yoga is supposed to be a stress relief. Yoga is meant to help you connect with your body in order to increase strength and flexibility and to relax and ease your mind.


During my yoga classes I like to leave my worries at the door and concentrate on my poses, my breathing, and what it is that I'm doing in the moment

It is the end of my genius hour project and unfortunately I did not reach my final goal which was to be able to hold an elbow stand for 30 seconds. I can get myself into an elbow stand, which is a huge leap from where I was at the start so I am still very proud of my progress. 

The entire reason that I chose this genius hour topic was to practice yoga more so I believe that I was extremely successful in that. I plan to continue to practice yoga regularly, hopefully without the stress of a final goal.
